12.16 Instructor Feedback
Instructors are encouraged to complete online feedback forms after training sessions.
Two parallel records
The post-session feedback obligation runs in parallel to the per-trainee report-writing obligation, with a different consumer:
- Per-trainee report. Formal record on the trainee's file, governed by the constructive / thorough / concise / remedial / confidential standard set out on 12.15 Report Writing.
- Per-session feedback. Observations about the training system (course design, courseware, lesson plans, devices, scheduling) that route to the programme's quality processes via the online forms.
The forms feed the framework's continuous-improvement obligations under Unit 7 (the competent instructor / evaluator should continually seek to benchmark his performance and improve the knowledge and skills required to maintain and advance his qualifications) and Unit 6 Element C (reports information on course evaluation, identifying strengths or weaknesses, systemic safety issues, unexpected outcomes, barriers to learning, and recommendations for course-design improvements).
Connections
- 12.15 Report Writing. The per-trainee record discipline the per-session feedback supplements.
- 12.20 Identifies and Recommends Areas for Improvement. The area-for-improvement framework that organises the topics the feedback covers.
- 12.21 Self-Analysis and Improvement. The personal-development counterpart that pairs with system-level feedback.
- 12.2 Instructor Competencies. Unit 6 Element C and Unit 7 Element A are the framework anchors for the feedback duty.
- 12.12 Quality Processes associated with Operations Training. The QA process that consumes per-session feedback.
