12.22 Maintains Required Qualifications
12.22.1 Period of validity
a) All instructor ratings and authorizations are valid for a period of 3 years.
b) The validity period for a specific authorization shall not exceed 3 years.
Examiners are re-authorized at the discretion of the national authority, based upon the recommendation of the nominated postholder for operations training.
A Senior Examiner has a special authorization that has the same validity as the associated TRE (Type Rating Examiner) authorization.
c) An applicant who fails to achieve a pass in all sections of a proficiency check before the expiry date of an instructor rating shall not exercise the privileges of that rating until the proficiency check has successfully been completed.
d) All Instructors must be observed and assessed by a Senior Examiner once a year.
